VOD Models Explained
SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand)
A subscription-based model that allows users unlimited access to content for a monthly fee. It offers flexibility, as users can cancel at any time.
TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand)
Users pay for individual content. Includes:
- Permanent digital purchase (Electronic Sell-Through)
- Time-limited rental (Download to Rent)
This model often features newer releases, benefiting both rights holders and audiences.
AVOD (Advertising Video on Demand)
A free model supported by advertising. Users watch content with ads, similar to traditional television.
While it typically generates lower revenue than SVOD or TVOD, it remains a valuable distribution channel.
